Exchanging experiences of antibiotic-resistant infection control in Nordic and Russian hospitals
The seminar was part of the Nordic-Russian Cooperation on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Containment, a programme administered by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), and funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers (NCM).
Although 80 to 90 % of antibiotics are consumed in primary healthcare, infection control in hospitals is a highly relevant issue from the viewpoint of antimicrobial resistance. The spread of bacterial infections is a big problem in hospital settings. For example, in St. Petersburg, the number of cases of MRSA and VRE are on the rise – surveillance data on the local antimicrobial resistance situation is reported every month.
